avi on dvd question

I have a bunch of files in avi format that I want to put on a disk to play in my dvd player. When I use a cd, it works just fine. When I try to put them on a dvd it won't read them in the dvd player. I was hoping to use dvd to fit more per disk, is there something I'm doing wrong?

What are you using to convert with now? There are several applications that will transcode from avi to mpeg 2 DVD compliancy. A very simple one to use is made by VSO software called ConvertXtoDVD that will also burn to DVD, but it is a commercial software

There are also some free softwares' that will work as well.

The question I might have is where are you obtaining these avi files?

I assume that your dvd player can read divx(avi) file. Best thing you can do is use nero and click on burning data and it should work fine. After burning your dvd player should able to dectect avi.

Makesure your dvd player have a DIVX logo on it.

You dont need a divx dvd player to read files that are converted with Convertxtodvd!! It converts just about any file to dvd type and then burns them. Nero is bloatware and really slow at converting!! Use convertxtodvd

Convertxtodvd is easy to use and really quick it will convert and burn to dvd which can then be played on any dvd player, you can even add several avi files to one dvd.

LOL Your funny. No Nero is bloatware. Why such a huge program to do such an easy thing. Convertxtodvd is the fastest one out there and has more options and is only something like 35mb.

yeah nero takes a lot of space, ram and processing power, but i do like some of its menu features and whatnot.

with the DVDs have you made sure that the DVDs you are using are ok for the DVD player, like if you use DVD-R your DVD player might not read that format....

The DVD packs (spindles) that you gt usually say what dvd players (brands) and computer brands they are compatible with. I am using DVD+R's and they seem to work better than DVD-R's but both work for me.
