Getting GuildWars

I am looking into getting into it, what do you think?

I would choose WoW, but I like that I dont have to pay a monthly fee, plus people at my LANs play it.

Do I need to buy a Disc then Expansion Packs?

Any tips that I should know?

Thanks.

I've always been tempted to buy this game...

They say it's really good. I think you only need to buy one game, whatever you want, Regular, Nightfall, or Factions.

Yes, someone told me once that depending on which one you get, you will only be able to play in that realm/world.

Their not expansions. you set up an guildwars account and punch in the COA key then you unlock a city with 4 free slots. I love fractions the best I have them all expect the eye of the north

I would caution against the original game because last time I logged in (which was months ago...) there was NO ONE in that version at all. Nightfall and/or Factions would be a better way to go, I don't know about Eye of the North, as I don't own that version and don't know what the population size looks like...

Yeah, I'll get in contact with my LAN friends brother, and see what he recommends.

Thanks.

about guild wars

for beginer i say factions is best to get to start off with and then nightfall for the sake of having heroes then proph and eye of the north with proph cuz by then most your characters will be about level 20 my favorite is factions tho i play the hell outta guild wars i be on it just about everyday so its a great game if you want something thats fun and that goes by skill instead of high level for no subscription monthly fee's

guild wars eye of the north costs 9.99 at futureshop in vancouver. it is not a standalone game so dont buy that one. all the other ones are standalone so it doesnt matter which one you choose.

This forum might help you decide which one to get based on your taste.
The link here is a sticky to help people choose which campaign (Prophecies, Factions, or Nightfall) to get.

As for the original campaign having no people at all, that might be either a one time occurence or everyone is just out at a certain place (kinda hard to believe though :D). I just gone through the first campaign and I don't find it difficult to get a group of people to do quest and mission with.

Hope this helps. :)

Alright, so after playing some other MMOs, and not keeping up with them, I decided to look into Guild Wars to play for fun when I'm bored.

Also, the trilogy is $40 on Steam, should I get that?

im a huge guildwars fan here id recommend the trilogy make characters on factions nightfall and proph and level them then get eye of the north if you want to down the road great game i been hooked on it for over 2 years and i played it like crazy cuz i like how you can take characters you create in the standalone campaigns like proph which is the original then take them to factions and nightfall back and forth much as you want after you do a certain quest in one of the main towns or outpost eye of the north is the only expansion i have it eye of the north i recommend for the experience guildwars player i wouldnt rush into that one but its a fun game yes im still hooked lol spent over 3000 hours playing the game within the over 2 years span
