Does you ISP allow for websites to be hosted?

Thanks for your reply. i am with TPG (Australia). i went on their website and searched google and found nothing about it. i have just now emailed tpg asking them. will get back to you on it. if they do not allow it does that mean i will have to change isp's? is there any way around it. and if they dont will i be able to create an ftp server?

thanks for your reply. will post when get more info.

ok soz for the late reply have been busy. my isp does support it. now i have figured out why other ppl could not access it using my ip. it was my firewall (so obvious! lol). anyway i forwarded the ports and opened them in my firewall and i got a friend to try it out. IT worked! now i would like to know how to make a domain name (allready registered: Netregistry), point to my IP address. i have searched like mad and am totally confused. they all say something about a DNS server. i dont understand how it works and how i can have one set up on my pc.

thank you all for your ongoing help
