Hey guys,

Im thinking of dual booting my rig in sig with Vista Ultimate 64 bit and Xp pro 32 bit.

Do you think this is logical to do this?

the reason is because,Vista still plays up not doing things as i want it to with certian software and it just still isnt Xp realy is it?

So i was going to use Xp pro for the usual Internet, email, programs use and use Vista purely for gaming (because of DX10)

what you think guys i would like to know your opinion,i know it would be a pain in the butt to restart the system everytime i want to game but i can live with that :)

NOTE:Before people come in here and say im bashing Vista...im not!I love Vista for DX10 and still want to continue to use it but just for gaming.

Well, do you feel it is necessary to go through the hassle to install xp so that you can run certain software? Are you willing to have to restart every time you want to use the internet and every time you want to play a game?

i've done a dualboot on my laptop and Windows XP runs a lot smoother. you never know, you might actually find that you prefer windows XP coz you might get better framerates in windows XP when playing video games.

so yeah, i'd say go ahead and try dualbooting.

ohh without a doubt il get better framerates in Xp,But still i wont abandon Vista for good because of DX10,no point in having a DX10 gfx card if your not going to use it to its full potential eh?

damn microsoft,if only that would have added DX10 to Xp damn that would be an awesome OS.

Microsoft make Windows Xp X64 Version 2(with DX10) please:p

I have a dual boot on mine. All my games and stuff are on XP Pro, unless the game supports directx 10, then it goes on Vista. But I only use Vista for those certain games.

what games other than crysis use DX10? i think that crysis looks superb on high graphics settings and you don't need very high settings when you consider the framerate loss you must get from using very high settings instead of just high.

which is why, if i had the choice, i'd just stick with XP for now. but vista looks good and some parts of vista are improved over XP, such as the ability to search for programs/files in the start menu really speeds things up.

i too dual boot vista and xp. i use vista mostly and only switch to XP when i dont have programs installed on vista (office, photoshop...etc). the reason why i use vista mostly is because i find that vista makes better use of my hardware, esp my C2Q, and also it looks better than XP :p. i dont find it too much of a hassle switching between the 2 OS. so yeah, you should dual boot. and it's good because if an OS ever screw up, you can go into the other and backup data before reformatting.

Company of Hereos Opposing Fronts uses DirectX 10, Grand Theft Auto IV, Assassins Creed, Far Cry 2, and I'm sure there are more....
