Motherboard suggestions...

Hi all,

I have an Intel Q9300 that I need a new mobo for. I really need a quality board - I'm not a gamer, but I do a lot of Flash/Dreamweaver/PS work. I have (now here is the kicker) a triple channel RAM kit (OCZ Gold 3X1GB 10666) that has to work on this board.

It also needs to have at least 2 X PCI slots, and 1 PCIe slot (but that should be no big deal).

Any suggestions?

I'm thinking about the Asus P5Q3, but I'm not 100% sure if the RAM will work with this board.

Thanks in advance!

You say your memory is triple channel? I believe this means its DDR3. The P5Q-E doesn't support DDR3, which means it doesn't support triple channel either. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I also see some boards that support DDR3 but are only Dual Channel. Is this possible?

In the event that I'm right, i can't find any triple channel boards ATM

Sure, you can run DDR3 in Dual Channel.

The board is what designates whether you can run Dual or Triple channel.

The primary benefit of DDR3 is the ability to transfer twice the data rate of DDR2

That's why they sell Dual Channel Kits, and Triple Channel Kits.
So you can buy matched sets for your number of slots.

The only Triple Channel boards I've seen are Socket LGA1366, X58's.
