Will a 32-bit "install" of steam work when copied over onto a 64 bit installation?

Today I replaced Vista 32 with Windows 7 64, and before doing so I copied my steam folder as well as an installation of Call of Juarez. Now I am copying them back over, and am wondering if they will work?

I know I can redownload steam data if need be, but I no longer have the COJ install discs :(

If they are in your steam folder did you not get them off of steam? If so, you should just be able to reinstall it from there.

If not, then you should be able to copy it over because it installs it all the same if there isn't a, x64 or x86 option, the kernal of the OS just uses it slightly differently, allowing different CPU architechture to be used (that is all 64 bit OS does except for allow more memory)

When I got the 64-bit version of Vista I was able to copy all the .gcf files from the old Steam folder and use them. I did need to download some games again because there was a 64-bit version available, but that was not too bad in my opinion.

Okay, cool, I'll give it a go tonight.

And if I do need to download, it'll only take a few minutes thanks to my 100 megabit internet here at college :p
