Could I play left 4 dead 2 with this card?

I have a Nvidia Geforce AGP 8x 512mb DDR2 graphics card. Will it play left 4 dead?

I have an old system and would like to play the game, but I want to know if I really have to build a new computer or if I could manage.

what particular card is it?

Assuming you are on Windows XP or lower:

Go to start>control panel>System>Hardware tab>Device Manager.

From there, look under "graphics adapters" and that will tell you what it is.

If you are on Vista or 7:

Start>Control Panel>Device manager

look under "graphics adapters" and that will tell you what it is.

The system specs for the game are:

Supported OS: Windows® 7 / Vista / Vista64 / XP
Processor: Pentium 4 3.0GHz
Memory: 1 GB for XP / 2GB for Vista
Graphics: DirectX 9 compatible video card with 128 MB, Shader model 2.0. ATI X800, NVidia 6600 or better
Hard Drive: At least 7.5 GB of free space
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

note with sound, just about any onboard sound will do, don't worry if you don't have a dedicated sound card

I doubt that any AGP will cope with any games out today.

the 6600GT minimum requirements had AGP and PCi-e models, and the specs and benchmarkings of both weren't terribly dissimilar,

Hell, they even made a 7800GS that was AGP and that would blow the 6600GT out of the water.

they may not be able to play them on mega high settings with full AA and everything, but they can certainly still handle the games

yes, that card will run the game, although at near min graphics...what are the rest of your specs?

My specs are horrible. LOL I have an old hp computer. I have a pentium 4 CPU at 2.53ghz, and 1gb of ram. Computer is maxed out.

Hopefully I can upgrade soon, but will I be able to play the game?

I believe you can get an AGP version of the Radeon HD 4650 - though it still requires a 6-pin PCI-E power connector. not a problem if you have 2 spare molex plugs and an adapter.

I would say no you can't because you don't meet the minimum requirements, your CPU is clocked too low.

If you get a new mobo and CPU (you can get a cheap AM2+ bundle, maybe $100 or so) then you should be able to run it no problems. Memory upgrade wouldn't hurt either.

If you do upgrade stuff rather than the whole system, make sure your power supply will handle the upgrades. If it is a prebuilt system, it will just about certainly not handle it because the power supplies they put in there are cheap, asian piles of crap that just about power the system they ewre initially put in, but not any more

i can't even get it to work on my system in the first place :p I prefer just trying or better yet, reading the minimum and suggested specs OR getting it, if it doesn't work, do a bit of overclocking :p

The 4650 is a massive upgrade from the 7600 (well, in power consumption atleast) it draws a hell of alot more power. Because of this, his PSU may not be up to the standard, so should be looked into too.

and bare in mind also that the 4650 has about identical specs in games and that to the 8600gt, which draws very little power and requires no PCI-e connectors, but will most probably not run l4d on full settings at full AA too. But is cheap today, I don't know about in US, but in UK I could sell mine for £20 each atleast (you can only get used now, they aren't made any more)

where?

not on steam?

damn it you are right

steam update made it look like they had, it says something like "steam demo now public!! Left 4 Dead 2 Realeased on 2nd November, download it now ready for the release so you can play straight away"

I assumed, because everybody who had preordered it already knew and already had it that they were announcing it for everyone else, but no :(

I hate how these days not many game developers are releasing demos for games....lets hope they release one for L4D2...i highly doubt it though

there is a demo for L4D2, but to get it you have to preorder, which sucks.

If you have an xbox though, go down to Game if you have one near by ask to preorder it on the xbox in store, and if they are anything like the 3 around here, they give you a coupon with a code on, put that code into your xbox and you can download the same demo there, and you don't HAVE to buy the game :D They don't take your name, details, anything.

I've got the L4D2 Demo without pre-ordering it...

Maybe because I have L4D1? Look in your Not installed list on Steam and see if it's available for you.
