actually... AM3 will work on AM2+
AM3 is just 1 pin less than AM2+ socket
I would know... im running a Phenom II dual core black edition, AM3 socket, on an AM2+ mobo

AM3 processors have 938 pins, AM2/+ have 940 pins. AM3 has two less pins. Plus the missing pin set up is moved up one row. AM2/+ processor will not even fit in a AM3 socket. A AM3 processor has a DDR2 and DDR3 memory controller so it can be used on a AM2+ if the board has a bios update for them.

I run a AM3 processor on a AM2+ board. Either of those board picked out will run a AM3. But I would not pick a ECS or Asrock. Stick with Gigabyte or Asus. You might as well get a AM3 board because DDR2 is just as high as DDR3 now.

You lookin for a board with onboard video?

Whats your price limit on the whole setup?

lol so right now, u can buy windows vista for 90 bucks, and upgrade to 7 for free? thats a good deal isnt it? cuz win7 is like 100+ i think
