my hp desktop will not come out of booting

I thought my hp had a virus or something but when I plugged my gateway computer in the same exact area it does the same exact thing. (stay in booting) what can be the problem? The gateway computer wasn't hooked up to anything until about 30 mins ago... I presse f1 on the hp and it say it was loading but never did leave the booting area

What area are we talking about here?

What is connected to your pc peripheral wise?

my first guess is that that outlet has a short in it. Try a completely different outlet. If they work fine elsewhere you know it is the outlet.
