Computer Power Loss Question

Was not sure where to put this, so I decided to place it here. I apologize if this is the wrong topic.

Anyways here is my question...

Well my house the wireing is all screwed up, if to many things are plugged into one side of the house, it will blow the breaker, causing a certain part of the house to lose power. You than must flip the breaker to restore the power. The question is, can it, or does it, harm your computer to have it powered off in this way while it is turned on? It has happened twice already, and I have only had my computer for three days, I am sure it is going to happen several more times in the future. So anyways, does it harm the computer in anyway?

I have been doing research on the internet, to see if it causes harm. I have found that there is a chance it could corurpt your data, including your operating system, or files that allow your computer to boot properly. I have also heard that it could cause harm to your hardware. Just wondering if any of this is true. Thanks in advance for your answers, I greatly appriciate the input.

Also I was wondering if turning off the computer in this way, is the same as holding down the power button until the computer shuts off. Thanks

get a ups backup, set it to shutdown the computer 5 minutes before the battery dies. Call an electrician to check out your power surge problem :p

I have called an electrician. But anyways I am just wondering if it harms the computer... like the operating system, or any hardware inside of the computer. Also I heard that having this happen can cause your computer to run slowly, just wondering if that was true also.

I do not mind losing data, as long as my operating system does not become corrupt, as well as my computer is able to boot up, shut down, and runs efficiently. Thanks.

An abrupt power loss and severely damage your computer. It can take out your power supply, motherboard, ram, hard drive. Until you get your power problem figured, I highly recommend buying a UPS as mentioned so that it don't ruin your computer when the power shuts off.

Sudden power lose isn't usually all that harmful to computers. Typically the worst case is data issues (things not being written completely). Sometimes power supplies can give out but I'd say that's pretty rare assuming it's a sudden loss of power. Now, if you have brown-outs, that's another story...

Regardless, a UPS as suggested wouldn't be a bad idea. Even cheaper ones could probably keep at least your computer running for a few minutes. I'd imagine it'd give you enough time to reset the circuit before it runs out of juice. Just do some research. I've got a UPS I don't use on my computers because I found it only pumps out around 90 volts. I began to wonder when it'd kick in and my speakers would whine...

No brown outs... If that were to happen, I would instantly turn off my computer, as well as anything else in my house. Anyways does it matter how often it happens? It happens fairly often, though not to my computer because it is new. It happens maybe twice a week. Does it matter how often it happens?

Same thing happened at my old place, at least twice a week, for about 3 months. my computer survived (el cheapo PSU too). We run on 240v here if it makes any difference.
