SATA, IDE is old technology, I plan on getting rid of all IDE components in my system very soon.

Whats better IDE or SATA for an optical drive

You will get the same performance from both on an optical drive. The drives cost about the same, too.

IDE is sllooooowly fading away to be replaced by SATA. So, if you plan on having your drive around for some time, you may as well get a SATA drive.

What he said. :good: Plus I just switched from IDE to Sata and I REALLY like the cable management, plus it looks alot cleaner.

Hello sopo95,

I would prefer SATA. There are several advantages if you are going to use a SATA cable. Increasing the rate for the transmission of data is one (The cables are only 8mm wide, it goes 250MBps, basically way better than ATA/IDE). It is a lot cleaner compared to the IDE cable that we are using before (when it comes to installation inside your CPU casing).

Thanks,
