I am in need of a hard drive, and have around 50 dollars to spend. Any suggestions? Looking for something at least 320+ GB.

^ Better than the HD502HJ? Doubtful. That's one of the fastest non-SSD drives on the market.

I'm going to have a lot of non replaceable stuff on it, and it seemed like it had some bad reviews. I'm guessing since its so fast I'll put all my games and stuff on it. Can I trust it?

All brands of hard drives can crash. if it has a few bad reviews, it's not a big deal. The reviews that I would look for are people that have owned it for a while (like over a year) and see how those drives are rated. Just make sure that you keep your HDD cool and secure in your case and it should be fine.

Usually if a HDD (or any part for that matter) is going to fail it is going to fail within the first week or so

Which, in that case it is covered by newegg's RMA service

I would go Western Digital but would not order from newegg unless they carrying the latest revision drives as there are several.. best to order from western digital site directly and you should be golden... goodluck

Not true, power supplies generally do not fail instantly unless they are overstressed or DOA. Hard drives that are initially defective will show their true colors within a week, but hard drives with a small flaw such as a bearing imperfection will take time to fail. Not to mention seagate's 7200.11 firmware incident where drives randomly failed. GPU's can die pretty easily from heat(especially dual GPU cards such as the 9800gx2), and is generally not seen directly at purchase. Motherboards can fail over time due to capicators and such, memory generally shows its true colors if its bad within a few days or instantly, similar with CPU's(unless the CPU is damaged due to heat that is).

My point is it IS going to be covered by RMA service so why worry? Plus alot of people that review on the EGG dont know what their talking about or are biased.

Yeah, ive been trying to tell people that for years("But they bought it from newegg" "they sound like they know what they are talking about"). I never rely on newegg reviews other than searching for successful mounts with larger coolers such as the TRUE or Megahalems on a motherboard, otherwise i dont even look at them.

RMA service isnt what generally concerns people, drive reliability is a key thing when you have important files you dont want to lose, and samsung drives are starting to become pretty reliable(few years back, eh,questionable, these days though, pretty good reliability).

^+1

Not only reliable, but fast. The F3 series keeps up with the WD Black drives, while using less power than the green ones. Pretty impressive.

^^ Oh yes very

Samsung has improved their drives dramatically over the past years. I still have my 750gb F1 and it makes very little noise from time to time but, my F3 is super quiet. For gosh sakes my CM r4 fans are louder than the F3 and they are not cheap fans by any means.

The r4's also arent rated to their true noise or airflow specs, not the best fans out there for the price imho.

Wow... well it's a good thing I only got one R4 for my side panel right now. What should I get instead of that?

The original drive posted is very fast and a very good drive. As for reliability as you're putting non-replaceable stuff on it, you need to be more concerned with a backup(s) than relying on a single drive to keep your data safe.

We don't really need a thread down the line w/ "You guys told me to get a Samsung, now I've lost everything!" as the subject line.;)

Do yourself a favor and figure out a proper backup solution for the data that is irreplaceable instead of picking a drive that will "never" fail.
