HELP!! RAM problem

i have 6GB of ram, but under performance in windows task manager, it says i only have 2. In system, under installed memory, it says 6 GB(2GB usable). what do i do?

32 or 64 bit OS? have you looked in the bios for a memory remapping feature?

omg, so i took out the ram and reinstall them, now i have 4gb usable, maybe if i do it again, i have all 6 gb usable

Do you have the memory in the grey or black slots. They should be in the grey slots. You can populate the black when using 4 or more memory sticks.

according to the manual, there are 6 slots and im suppose to use slot 1,3 and 5 and thats what i did. this is driving me crazy. btw, how do u check memory remapping? i didnt see it in my bio.

ok, the problem is slot 5. i tried different combination (all my rams work) and i found out that if i put a ram in slot 5, it become "unuseable". i built my computer last week and when i first built it, all 6 gb worked

my cpu is underclock, i think i accidentally set my cpu multiplier in bio to 20 and i changed it back and everything is normal now

when its a slot issue, it could be hard to resolve, if its ram issue, obviously you can get a new ram and replace it,,,sometimes dust can get in a slot so make sure you at least try a duster and clean the inside

ok, im having this problem again. every time i restart the computer, i get less than 6 GB, but if i go to bio and reload the default setting, i get 6 GB again. i build this computer 2 weeks ago so its clean. what do i do? i already updated the bio, did the msconfig thing and now i know is not hardware problem.
