hey guys,

i was just thinking that maybe a bit later down the track if i felt like upgrading my computer, would i be able to upgrade from 32 bit windows 7 to 64 bit windows 7 without having to wipe my HDD? (if i do upgrade i will be adding to my 2Gb of ram aswell as other things)

cheers!

yea you can do that, but if you mean to dual boot and expect to be able to access all of your programs off your 32 bit OS without reinstalling, that probably won't happen. File paths will be set to your 32 bit drive, as will registry entries, so you would have to install the programs again. When you upgrade you would just be better off backing up important stuff, formatting, reinstalling x64, putting the important stuff back and starting again fresh.

You should already have your important, unobtainable again stuff (like pictures, important files/records, videos etc) backed up anyway though incase of hard drive failure, right ;) :p
