correct me if im wrong but wouldnt he be better off with 2x2gb. 4x2gb, 2x4gb of memory, amd is dual channel,, that 3rd stick wont do much right?

Few things...

Get 2x2GB of ram, AMD boards are dual channel.

Get 1x Samsung Spinpoint 1TB F3

Get an AMD HD6950 instead of a GTX 470...that card is dead in the water, its Hot noisey and power hungry and has been replaced by the GTX 570.

An HD6950 is about the same price more or less and it is effectively a 6970 that just has locked features. You can flash its BIOS and unlock it to become a 6970 so for the price of about £220 you get high end performance for a mid range price tag.

This can be risky though and I wouldnt do it unless you were sure of yourself, but please dont get a GTX 470.

So i was right about the memory :) and 2nd its really not risky as all because the 6900 series comes with a flip of the switch dual bios, Save Bios 1, reflash, if it works your golden if not flip to switch to Bios 2 restart comp and then flip the switch again and try to reflash :) I posted up the results in the Video Card section.... did it 2 days ago
