Overheating CPU/GPU problem ?

Hi guys, first of all sorry if my english is bad it's not my native one.
Then to go to the problem...in the last couple days out of nowhere overheating on my cpu and gpu appeared...i have an "AMD X2 [email protected] GHZ" and "Nvidia GeForce 9800GT@512 MB".And as for the GPU the 70+,80 temperature is normal while i'm playing games for the CPU 70+is a little bit too high i think. So i opened the pc and cleaned the fans of both the cpu and gpu and on the top of that i have a fan that is especially to cool the video card. Now both cores at idle are about 22/21 and CPU @ idle is 43 degrees. So any idea if this overheating of the CPU mostly is dangerous and should i be worried about or i'm just paranoic lol ?

How old is this setup, meaning when did you build it? I think the idle temp for that processor is a little on the high side but within specs I believe. I think idle temp should be near 35 or so. Are you using the stock heatsink/fan that came with the processor?

Now since you have cleaned out all the cobwebs, try gaming again to see what the temps go up to. We need to see what temps are after cleaning.

i have this since 2 years ago(2009), and when i cleaned up the temperatures stays the same...only a little low @ idle.
the gpu temperature is nothing to worry about, but i'm mostly worried about the CPU, i think i should open the cpu and clean it because i only cleaned the fan with the vacuum(lol).

Like I said, do some cpu intensive things and see how high the temp gets. If this system was a little more older then I would say try removing the old thermal compound and reapply new and see if the temps stay down. How many case fans do you have?

you might want to replace the Stock CPU heatsink with an aftermark it will run a lot cooler and you wont have to worry as much also a descent aftermark heatsink is no more then $60 at www.newegg.com it will aslo make your cpu life longer

Only 1 for the video card i think.
I will do some intense gaming later but the higher temperature that i've got on my CPU is 75 and it really got me scared

But that was before you cleaned it out right? If you cleaned it out and its still getting that high then thats not good. You either need new thermal paste, new cooler, or possbly the heatsink isn't down on the cpu all the way.

Well after i cleaned up i tried playing some League Of Legends and Back To The Future The Game Episode 3, some not very "high-end" games but the temperatures were still the same...i think i have to take it to the store :>
Right now is : 65 idle wow, and the 2 cores, 50/46..the GPU temperatures is good (checking with everest), but also right now i'm only using firefox and the CPU usage is at 100 % :>
can it be some virus making my cpy working at 100 % and that's where the temperatures are growing from because it's started lately(3 days) out of nowhere

You mostly need to clean the heatsink. The fans are no big deal. They never clog, just get grimy. You need to blast any dust out of the heatsink, using Dustbuster, compressed air or special blowers. Blow between the fan blades to avoid damage to the fan.

i actually cleaned the heatsink but will try more detailed tomorrow right now is still sitting in 60+ @ idle :>

You should check your fan speeds too. It's unlikely the settings have changed on their own. Run at 100% on idle and see what you get. Despite numerous questions from others on whether the heat sink is stock, number of case fans etc you have answered none. Could you also post the MB temp? That should show the case cooling situation.

Yes this is my stock headsink and also my stock fan.
On the other way i stopped my computer tonight, something that i was not doing in like 1 week or something because i was downloading stuff...and now the temperature @ idle seems normal - CPU 34, the cores - 18 and 16 and the GPU 56.My MB is @ 31 right now.
Also right now i put the Everest test for CPU Stability and the temperature grow to 60, and continuing to go top but very slowly. Also what program to use to see my fan speed is "SpeedFan" ok ?
Because i put everything in 100 % there...

If the temperature has come down to normal levels there is no point in running the fans at 100%. The fans are capable of moderate cooling.

If you had the 60deg temperature at idle (your post #8) and the CPU fan at 100% did not bring the temperature down there would be a problem. It is curious that the temperature went to normal after a shutdown. When it was at 60 deg are you sure it was idling?

Your MB temperature is reasonable so the the case is adequately ventilated.

Yes you could use Speedfan to show speed. I don't know if Speedfan overrides the BIOS setting if variable speed is disabled there. Did any utilities come with your (unnamed) MB? You should be able to view the fan speed v temperature data and whether it's enabled in the BIOS. My fan is currently set to max speed at 65 deg. If I were concerned about temperature that could be reduced, the downside being more noise and power consumed.

First of all thanks for all the replays, i open my pc yesterday cleaned the heatsink and everything is cool at intense gaming my cpu is getting max to 60(idk if that's also high) but @ idle is 37 with the cores @ 17 and 19. :)
