Where's the status bar?

It was a hard time during my accommodation with XP - it needed very much setting-tuning until I get it acting as I want and not the way he wants. The good old Win98 didn't have such a strong personality...
I wanted to have the status bar visible in every explorer window and after a couple of settings I managed to get it permanently. But when I do a search the window appears without the status bar... How could I convince XP that I need that status bar?

Thats goddamn annoying aint it? To get it to show:
1. Close all explorer windows
2. Open one, Tools --> Folder Options --> View
3. You might want to uncheck "Remember each folder's view settings" but for now leave it as checked
4. Click Reset All folders
5. Click Ok
6. View --> Status Bar
7. Open one, Tools --> Folder Options --> View
8. Click "Apply to all folders"
9. Click OK, close that window
10. If you have problems, repeat and uncheck the aforementioned box

I done that already. And it works... for some time. If I open several times the search window the status bar is there. But then openining again the search window the status bar is not there... Weird XP...
Is there a registry hack to set the status bar put forever?
