not to make light of the disaster, but i can't wait to see what kind of video game they come up with having to do with the nuclear meltdown.

i like the whole post-apocalyptic / nuclear disaster genre, having played stalker, fallout 3 & metro 2033. i really think the japanese can come up with some really cool shit.

is it too soon?

Yes. There are plenty of fictional plots based on nuclear disasters. To make one modeled after the recent disaster in Japan would be in extremely bad taste. Thousands lost their lives and many many more lost their homes and have essentially had to start their life over. Estimates of the cost of the damage are over $300 Billion. I do not think it would be at all appropriate to base a video game off of what happened.

Granted, you could say this about many of the popular FPS games (WWII, etc). I guess with those, there is someone generally a side that people seem to agree is the "bad guy." But still, at the very least, I'd say its way too soon to base a video game plot on the disaster and I don't believe it should ever become the focus of a video game.

yeah, it's like that ep of (brain-fart, weird adultcomedy with cartman and stan and kenny and all) where jared from subway says he's going to give everyone aids, especially the children, and people thing he means the disease not the personal aid, and then they laugh and figure out it's like 22 years after something you can laaugh about it, so wait 22 years and there will be a game

the only way i could see it being a game is being the guy in charge of the reactor and stoping it but even then it wouldnt be a very long game?

I agree with what everybody else has said, if they are going to make another post-apocalyptic game no one is going to say that the setting is going to be in Japan. Moreover, I highly doubt the Japanese would be the ones to create such a game.

well, the developers for the Stalker games, based on the Chernobyl disaster, are from Ukraine themselves. but... it was about 25 yrs after when they came out with the game.
perhaps it is too soon.

however, like the Stalker series, i think a story based on real life events, with a few embellishments, could have more of a life-like feel to it.
