Question about Wordpad

I'm using Wordpad version 6.1 (build 7600) in Windows 7.

It comes up with the following Ling Spacing settings as the default:

This is a real pain for me because I use Wordpad all the time, but I don't like these default settings, I used the settings shown in the right of above graphic.

Is there any way to change these default settings in Wordpad permanently?

Thank you.

Found this on another site. It may be useful to you.

"1. Pin wordpad to the taskbar.
2. Right click on taskbar, click toolbars, new toolbar & enter: %userprofile%\AppData\Roamin… Explorer\Quick Launch
3. The Quick Launch is now available for Windows 7!
4. Format wordpad file & save it somewhere you will not delete it (ex: program files folder)
5. Click on the properties of this file & change it so read only so you don't accidentally override it.
6. Right click the wordpad on the taskbar & if you look up you will so the formatted wordpad file in recently closed.
7. Click & Drag that file from the recently closed section into the Quick Launch Area.
8. Now this Quick Launch link will function as if you were initiating wordpad program with default formatting the way you want it."

Hope it helps

Thanks for your suggestion. I had actually thought of that myself, but that ends up not being any better. It solves the default line spacing problem but it creates another problem that's just as bad.

I use Wordpad to create notes in various directories that I'm working in. So when I'm in the directory I just right-click and chose "New Rich Text Document". That creates a Wordpad doc right in the directory I'm working. Then I launch it to fill in my notes.

If I use the trick you suggest, I could launch a "default template" of Wordpad from the task bar with the line spacings set to the default I prefer. However, then when I go to save the document it's pointing at the directory where the default template was launched from. So then I have to go through the directories searching for the one I was working in so I can save it where I'm working. That would actually be more of a hassle than just changing the line spacing.

So, thanks for the suggestion, but in this particular case it won't help much.

Sorry to hear that the suggestion will not work for you. In the research I have done on Wordpad it bacame very clear that wordpad is not too customizable. What I mean is that the defaults are hard coded and not easily changed. Maybe it is time to step up to some other word processor that has the capabilities you need.

I kind of thought that would be the answer before I posted the question. But it never hurts to ask. :)

Thanks for the quick reply.
