Leaked GTX680 specs?

that article is intriquing...but...what the hell are they comparing the cards against eachother on, its about as filled with fact as the apple people saying the ipad 2 was faster than a tegra iii... just gave a chart without any information at all on it...with 1x 2x and 4x on it or something...meaningless information. to me that article smells like speculation.

the 1x 2x and 4x of something is the AntiAliasing on games.

Not what he is talking about. He is talking about graphs where they said it would be 2x or more in exact whole numbers better than the competition.

oh on that bicycle

Well if you look on the site, this then confirms my source :D

I'm really looking forward to these cards, I returned my 7970 today so I'm using a GT210 right now, expecting my tax return check this week in the mail so I hope the March 22n'd release date is accurate.

Linking this for future reference, I expect it to fail dismally against this graph :D

Just noticed, look at the numbering on that graph. look at the difference from the 7950 to the 7970. really other than 3, the 680 is about the same difference or less than the difference from the 7970 to the 7950, it's not really that much faster going by its own charts.

I heard from some people that the GTX 680 was going to be a mid ranged card at like $350(probably with a different name) but it was good enough to beat the 7970 so they called it the gtx 680 and slapped the $550 price tag on it. I wonder if this is true lol

They're right, refer to this quote from [H]:

Yeah, Nvidias typical naming convention is G(Core Designation)(Revision)(Performance Class)
And before GT200 it was just G(Revision)(Performance Class)

0 is highest performance class, 8 lowest.

So GF100 was Graphics Core Fermi Revision 1.0 Top Performance Class (GTX480)
GT215 was Graphics Core GT Revision 2.1 Low-Mid Performance (GT240)
G80 was Graphics Core Revision 8 Top Performance Class (8800GTS/GTX/Ultra)

GK104 Is Graphics Core Kepler Revision 1.0 High Mid Performance Class. It should get the 660 designation, but it's being pushed into the high end role. It's either because GK100 or GK110 have issues, or Nvidia truly believes they don't need a bigger gun for this fight

GK104, what is now being called the 680, should actually get the 660 designation, because it is a mid range part. People are upset about this because it means that NV can pass a mid range product as a top performance product, generating more profit while keeping costs the same. Not cool, because it's unnecessary wallet rape for consumers.

I've just bought a pair of the EVGA 680's. They will be with me tomorrow, so watch this space for SLI benchmarks and overclocking results.

Thats crazy. I wonder how well the drivers will be :p

Anyways, I'm more interested in the mid range cards. Any news on 650, 660, 660 Ti, etc?
