Howdy,

I'm running win 7 and IE9 on my new MSI GT780 DXR and having grief with IE9 freezing and then shutting down everytime I try to open a pdf or a link to a pdf from the web.......strange. Just freezes and says "Internet Explorer Has Stopped Working"...............No S*** Sherlock. Anyway, it's driving me crazy with this and not sure what the issue is whether it's IE9 or Adobe? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Max

What program do you have installed that will open pdf files? Do you have the latest version of Adobe Reader?

Start IE with add-ons disabled, then go into Internet Options > Advanced and choose Reset. Then go to Adobe.com and download the latest version of Adobe Reader.

Check your event viewer at the time IE crashed and it should give you an error code and/or an error description.

Paste it back here or google it, and you should get your answer.

Also, check your Adobe options to see if it is set to Open PDF in Browser. Edit > Preferences > Internet. If it is selected, untick it. If it is unselected, tick it. See if that helps you out.

my serious suggestion for a permanent fix is to download Opera, FF, Chrome or the offshoots of them and problem solved.

wolfeking, thks, i know i have those options, but my work has a security sys
with cams set up and the tech set up website where i have to go to to use them only works with ie,which sucks- i am trying to get them to change their
system but i think some one is related to gates -

downgrade to IE8. That is about all you can do I think.

And the school claims the same thing, but I access the system every day on Chromium and FireFox without issue (I generally run Linux on my lappy). Try using a non m$ browser to check for functionality. If it don't work then go backwards to IE8.

and also with security cams the only thing i've caught so far is a raccoon knocking over a garbage can, and a coyote taking a dump, lol
i shud actually be glad my ie 9 is messed up

Sounds like you have a fun job. watching animals doing what they do. lol.

Still holding at downgrade to IE8. If that does not work then you can always upgrade again.

ok thks, and watching animals is not part of the job, they just show up
i am a mechanic and all of my tools are on jobsite/ so i have a vested interest
when a alarm goes off, i don't have to go to site , i turn on computer from home and see what's going on. the bonus on coyote was i made sure i was last one on site so i didn't have to clean it up. thks again and take care
