I'm trying to install windows 7 OEM 64bit on a windows 8 Asus w55a. It's a brand new computer and need windows 7 for business (plus I can't stand it).

Any help would be appreciated. I unpartitioned the D: drive back to C: and Installation for windows 7 stops when it reads "expanding files".

Is the disk an original Windows disk or a downloaded/burnt copy?

How long have you left it sitting at expanding files? Is the PC frozen or just never progresses past a certain point?

I know on certain machines, it has taken up to 10 minutes or more before the percentage starts going up.

It's a real windows 7 disk, just bought it. And I didn't exactly specify, it's not that it freezes on that spot, it stops all together and says it detects malicious, signed incorrectly, or damaged software attempting to install and says to please select a operating system to reboot into. (windows 7 is not an option)

You will need to delete the existing partitions, repartition then install windows. It also sounds like you are trying to do this while inside windows 8?

Yeah I can't figure out a way to boot from the cd/dvd drive (windows disk) for my life like i've read all over. I can only select boot manager. I believe this is the Bios... My desktop is way different I'm a bit spoiled with a GUI based Bios. SO for now I've been clicking the setup on the disk while in widows 8.

You change the boot order in the bios, should be under advanced options. Can't install while inside windows 8.
