Asus Seashell netbook series will not connect to the projector

I am a student, and recently my teacher, who owned a netbook, and yes, a Asus Seashell. It has some kind of good hardware - a dual core cpu, 2 GB of ram and a monitor up to 13xx * 8xx. Sounds great but it just won't connect to the school's projector. My friends and I had tried many ways but it won't work. It only worked if we plug in the VGA cable before we boot the netbook up. But in this way, the display only worked for 7 seconds (my friend counted it), and it go for a blank display, ok, i mean the projector. nothing wrong with the netbook.
my hypothesis is:
a) the netbook don't have enough video memory.
b) it has something wrong with the settings on the netbook( i am not familiar with windows 7 as i always stick to linux).

so, the question is:
1. is my hypothesis accepted?
2. how to enter the netbook's bios menu? i don't see it before the windows icon appear.

thanks

tried changing the resolution for the monitor in control panel. I would think lowering it would be needed for a projector.

The resolution used is 1024 x 768, that is the standard resolution for the projector. But it still don't work. If it works, it will show you a black and white display... and looks like a disco. It is crazy and I have no idea how to deal with it.

Connect the netbook to the projector and once it's in Windows, hold down the Windows key and tap the "P" key. The first time will bring up a menu; I'd say tap P four times to do "Projector Only" and see if that works. Once you know that at least works, maybe try some of the other settings...

Tried it before, but no luck, it showed some 'disco effect', that is black and white dots and lines all over the display showed by the projector, and flashing, too.
