In my eyes, Chromium just feels like the open-source version of Chrome. Others will argue. Honestly, I just use Chrome, even on a Linux distro.

Chromium from Ubuntu Software Center is slightly modified from the standard Chrome browser. Some Ubuntu tweaks have been added. Nothing to worry about, just some ubuntu searches and themes. I don't like those settings finding the way into my Windows install so I just download the .deb file from Google directly

This should get you right file. As long as it auto detects for Ubuntu.

https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/

The .deb package will be handled by the software center, but it will not have the Ubuntu customizations. If I remember correctly, it also adds itself into the PPA so you will get updates for Chrome automatically.

You can also dpkg the deb from the download link above that Salvage gave you, if you don't want to go through the IMO slow and crappy Ubuntu Software Center, though it might not be added to the PPA to auto-update if you do it this way.

Sudo dpkg -i ~/Downloads/*.deb

And for the Chrome vs Chromium, Chrome is probably going to be a little better for day to day use.

Thanks guys for your input,i red some reviews and decided to keep chromium i don't want to mess my very nice setup for my HD/SD tv live streaming,to tell you the truth i was using Firefox that was installed from the ubuntu12.04lts right of the box and i had a bad experience with bugs and no streaming the right codecs for varies players and so on
lucky me that i always like to try stuff and now i'm happy with my setup,i tried a few distros but nothing compares to ubuntu12.04lts and xubuntu12.04lts

No flash and no PDF reader in Chromium last I checked, also doesn't support AAC, MP3, H.264 or auto update where Chrome does (nativity). And OP, installing Chrome won't mess anything up, but it also won't be much different. However it supports more audio formats and auto update.

Chromium in general is a few versions behind Chrome and in my experience in Ubuntu was less stable. Just me though.

Thanks i gave a try to Chrome but i was not inpressed at all ,i had a white blank screen a few times when in the page had to reboot a couple times ,also add pages to the tab is complicated, in firefox and IE i just open a page or link then i click - minimize buttom and open other pages in chrome i open a page then i click - minimize and open another page and loose the first page i had sellected.
i just can't put up with it this way , so went back to Fire Fox it's much more easier and sinple to use.
and on my old pc with xubuntu i tried chrome and i hear the cpu and fans rise up noize.

Yup. Same. He has 3 Firefox Windows open. Not sure what he means by missing minimize. Google Chrome and Chromium work perfectly fine for me on Ubuntu

He, the OP silv55, is who I am referring to.

I can't help without clarification. How else would I know what he wants to fix? Is it broken? Is he using Chromium from the Software Center or the .deb from Google? Is he trying to mimic a configuration in Firefox that he likes in Chrome?

Before I can help, I need to know what to try an help. If you have the clarification on what he wants, please post it.

I just learned that the browsers have nothing to do with the Minimize button that minimizes the pages in the taskbar but the Desktop evironment,
Unituy and Grome3 won't work like in Gnome2 or XFCE4 or KDE
I"ve tried Gnome2 classic and Xubuntu desktops in ubuntu 12.04 and these are the one that i like, fior now i have Xubuntu-Desktop and i have to say i like it

Give Midori a try, run flawless in Mint, uses the firefox plugins so you have flash and codec support and honestly makes Chrome or Chromium feel slow.
