Computing sounds

Hi,

just being curious: except from the optical drives and HDD, I wonder where do specific computing sounds come from? I would expect tiny electronics to be absolutely silent since it's nothing but some electric current, although it's sometimes low voltage but relatively high current (hence the heat production).

Thanks for enlighting me/us!

Coil whine is a very high pitch whine. Some people can hear it and others can't. My GTX 570 had coil whine under heavy load but it eventually went away with time.

Fans are pretty obvious. But sometimes you also get a sort of crackling, for example with my computer, even though I'm not using my HDD since the SDD is the main drive.
It's most obvious with old systems. Mine is only dating from July 2012.
