Windows 7 install on windows 8 machine help!

Hello, I have a friend of mine with a ThinkCentre M93/M93p tiny machine. It was running windows 8 which he didn't like. He had one of his friends come out with a pirated version of 7 on disc and my friend is not sure of what this guy did, but the machine isn't even getting to post. He hits the on button turns off within 2 - 3 seconds. Can someone tell me what to do to get this machine at least able to turn on so I can proceed to get a legitimate version of 7 on it?

Reset the cmos by removing the cmos battery.

Unplug power from power supply, remove cmos battery, press and hold power button on the case for 10 seconds then wait 10 minutes. Reinsert battery and reconnect power and try booting up.

Are we allowed to discuss pirated OS software? That is sort of like discussing illegal burning software.

Not being a fan of pirated "anything", I suggest re-installing Win 8, and do an upgrade to Win 8.1. Of course since you are planning to install a legitimate Win 7 on the now illegitimate machine, all is good :) The reset CMOS should work.

Oh, I forgot to mention that you state that the computer powers on and then powers off after about 2-3 seconds. That is often the sign of an overheated CPU. Might help to check that out.

Hey man, the illegitimate windows 7 copy is no longer the issue. Was never to do with me in the first place ;) It's all legit with a clean copy of 7 that was bought. After clearing everything back to default, the machine is shutting down in three seconds again like before the install. There isn't a power supply as such with these machines. So I'm at a loss with the solution. Overheating issue? Any help appreciated :)

So your saying that while installing the OS it runs fine. But after the install it starts shutting down?
