MSI GT72 vs Alienware 15 - Australia

Hello,

I'm new to the world of gaming laptops...actually any laptops over $1000. I have been looking at the current ebay sale and have found 2 laptops but because I have never owned either brand I was wondering if I could get some input. The main things that matter to me are build quality and what sort of life span it will likely have. The last few laptops I have owned have barely lasted a year even with repairs, mainly due to over heating. Also I live in Australia which makes things more expensive.

9 cell battery,
SteelSeries backlit keyboard,
Windows 8.1 and more.
Backed by a 2 year MSI warranty.

I cannot comment on the MSI as I have never used one for gaming only.

Alienware is a good choice, I've owned three alienware laptops now.

M15x, M18 and now the M13, all three have been fantastic, I've racked up thousands of hours of game play across the last 5 or so years on my M15x and M18. Both have performed flawlessly.

They are typically bulkier in profile due to the heat sinks however it pays off! Though saying that my M13 is actually quite thin in profile which is nice. My M18 is like a slab of concrete though LOL (more of a desktop replacement than a mobile laptop)

Only thing with Alienware is price, oh and their crappy Dell customer support! Apart from that the products are spot on.

I would lead toward alienware due to ips screen & 16GB RAM
But the main difference is the screen size.
