McAfee and Malwarebytes

Recently I had need to contact my internet service provider. They told me that I am running two anti virus programs and that it is not a good idea because they were in competition with one another and slowed the computer down. They recommended that I remove one program. I asked which one they thought I should keep and was surprised when they said to keep Malwarebytes and to remove McAfee. I still have 9 months left on my subscription and am going to call them next week to see if I can get a refund. I was a subscriber for many, many years, ever since my first computer. So do you feel that I made the right choice in keeping Malwarebytes over McAfee as advised by my ISP ?

Misinformation given to me because both are needed. Malwarebytes does not replace a virus protection program. Had to reinstall McAfee . What a waste of time that was , uninstalling and reinstalling McAfee !

Use Sandboxie for your browser and Bitdefender Free. It's light weight, cloud based and won't even know it's there. There isn't a lot of fluff with Bitdefender free and will stop you from loading a page if malware is detected. But anti-virus software doesn't catch all hence why I use Sandboxie. Did anti-virus software catch Cryptolocker? No. If you can use Firefox or anoter Mozilla based browser like Pale Moon or Cyberfox I would also deploy NoScript. You can even disable NoScript for basic protection.

Scan all downloaded file at Totalvirus. Chose custom install for programs you download.

I was running Malwarebytes Anti-exploit, but had nothing but problems with it. Also had Hitman Pro. My setup is sufficient. I scan the computer with SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ADwcleaner. TDSSkiller, Herdprotect and some other stuff. Not that I need to though.

As long as Malwarebytes isn't the paid version then you can run it along side of an antivirus program. If you have the paid version then there is no sense in having a antivirus program.

I have the paid version of Malwarebytes but even so it ( Malwarebytes ) says that it is not a replacement for anti virus software and is a supplement to it.

It's up to you but I wouldn't run an antivirus program if I had the paid version of malwarebytes installed.
