How good is my computer?

Hi There!

I'm not much of a geek/nerd and I'm definitely not tech-savvy; all I really know about computers is the general knowledge and how to work one. So, after having this laptop for a couple of years (I think I got it in April '13) I'm wondering if it's good or if I need to get another one.

Don't get me wrong, I think this computer is really good. I mean, I use it a lot and though it overheats, it handles my fiddling. But, well, now that I got into gaming (always liked games, just that now I'm more serious about it), I wanna know how good my computer really is. Like I said, I'm not tech-savvy or anything, so when I looked at the specs, I felt like I was looking at a calculus problem with my basic algebra knowledge. So I'm uploading 2 screenshots for you to see what my computer has and how good that is. I put a red box over some things cause idk if that's stuff that others are supposed to see so yeah.

And, if you wouldn't mind, would you mind telling me how good those things are, on a 1-5 stars or a 1-10 score? And also if I should upgrade, mind telling me the stuff I should get?

Thanks in advance

You are asking a very relative question. If it's doing what you want, then it's perfectly fine.

If I had to rate it on your scale, I'd give it a 6/10.
Since it's laptop, there isn't much to upgrade besides more RAM. There's no information about the graphics card, so I'm going to assume it is integrated into the CPU, which is not meant for gaming.

Oh, I see. Back when I got it, the price was at about $1,100. The reason why I haven't upgraded is cause this laptop comes with Beats audio, and though Beats audio isn't amazing, it's far better than the sound other laptops produce.
But thanks! Now I know where I stand lol

Depending on what you use it for it could be a 1 or a 10. What do you use it for? What is the video card?

As Troncoso stated laptops are limited in upgrades. Bigger/Faster HD and More RAM are your options.

The specs are not bad, knowing which graphics chip you have would help me rate your computer. I would consider putting in an SSD as those are a huge upgrade, the Samsung evo 850 are well priced for the performance. I have a 840 in my laptop and after using this I don't even buy HDD's on my desktops anymore.
