Can you delete a comment on you on Facebook?

I made a joke about someone on a Facebook comment saying they looked like a person speaking and he replied by saying something which most people wouldn't understand but referred to something embarrassing I did in the past. I would really not want certain Facebook friends, especially girlfriend to know what he was referring to. Can I delete his comment? Should I delete mine to eliminate anyone commenting further? And when you comment on something are all your friends aware that you did so?

Generally speaking, don't you think Facebook could be quite dangerous. I deliberately don't have family and if possible girlfriends on it. Anyone could say anything about you.

Facebook isn't dangerous in itself. What is dangerous is people's indiscretions such as making disparaging remarks about other posters. You can delete your post but not other people's posts. I think if the remark was made on your post then if you delete your post then that remark will also be deleted, I think.

Hide the post or comment. To hide a comment, hover over the top-right hand “x” and click “Hide.” Now the post can only be seen by the person who wrote thecomment and his or her friends. They'll have no idea the post is hidden, and youcan always click “Unhide” later if you like.

Sure- 7 years ago I was arrested in Japan and put in jail for 17 days for trespassing in my language school. The charges were dropped when I agreed to resign His comment didn't say this directly, but most of my friends over there knew what I did and would have understood it. All or all but one of my friends back in the UK don't know about this incident. I was using the photocopier and going through the manager's files with a copied key of manager's room. I ran off when a supervisor came and didn't know who I was. Weeks later I was caught and put in jail. I want to keep this secret from my friends and family back in the UK. I guess it could make me look stupid. I want to keep my life over there secret from my life back in the UK.

They give you the exact dietary requirements for a man. I am bigger than the average Japanese so lost a bit of weight but nothing bad, probably did me good. You got pocket money as well to buy extra stuff which I bought. It's so boring in there that any food or a cigarette is very much looked forward to. I always feel sorry for caged cheetahs and leopards now after that experience.

You want pictures of my Japanese GFs? lol Don't understand GTFO

It wasn't his post. I made a joke about him looking like someone and he made the comment about a photocopier. Even if I unfriended him would still have happened as it was a mutual friend's post. My friends know when I comment even on someone who isn't their friend, don't they?

Crazy.. I'm always intrigued to hear peoples first hand experiences with situations like that...I always wondered if foreign jails were shitholes like tv/movies portray,

The second comment was just me bugging you about you g/f...didn't mean any disrespect..just being silly. Are you Japanese yourself, or just were there studying? Always wanted to travel to Japan..Tokyo looks incredible.

Yeah crazy. I am a Brit. The jail wasn't bad in itself. You wont get raped or beaten up like in other countries. However, mentally it was awful. Interrogated and I had no idea how long it was going to last. Could have been up to 3 months. But no one said anything clearly. I think it was the not knowing. Luckily only being 17 days. I only lost one of my four girlfriends. One I managed to blag it and the other two were away. And being 17 days wasn't enough for my parents to get worried about lack of contact and worry. If it had gone on for 3 months would have had to of told them- embarrassment, them worrying etc everyone finding out. It was such a stupid reason as well- copying a key and using the manager's office the running off. Doesn't make me look cool. If I had been caught with a joint and got 3 months at least that would've been a story I could have told people without worrying they were going to think I was an idiot! This is forum and anonymous so good place to tell the tale.

I guess it could have been worse. If I had used a keylogger to get passwords to delete any complaints about myself or going through manager's files.
