is there any program that can tell you if someone is on your wireless network and kick them off? i know some router software does this but apparently my linksys does not.

go into your router by typing 192.168.1.1 and look in there, you should find a ton of settings that will not only keep your router from broadcasting, but you can password protect your connection with something called WPA (I think that's right). You can also manually assign IP's and that will help all the more.

just make sure it's not the incoming IP you set to static (the one coming from your ISP to your router) because many ISP's use dynamically assigned IP's. What that means is if you change your incoming IP to static when it is really dynamic, if your ISP changes your IP you won't be able to get online. It's fine to label a static connection dynamic, so it's better to err on that side. But static IP's for things in your network is a good idea
