I have a Conon R40 scanner and I can't get it to work. I went to canons website and downloaded the drivers which don't work and I can't log on the conon forum so I'm not sure what to do?

Have you checked to see if it is recognised or showing as a device in device manager ? If yes then you should be able to see more detail under the 'Properties or Events Tab.
