Win ME PC wont connect to domain

Hi,
At work I have about 3-5 computers that no matter how many times I try and add it to the domain they just will not.

They are either Win ME or 98. I right click on Network Neighbourhood, properties etc and then add the domain, for which it then asks me to restart the computer. When it comes to the logon screen all it asks for is the Username and Password but no domain. You can obviously get into the PC by just pressing escape, but its not really worth it as the Network/Internet is not available.

I cant even get to the network as it doesn't prompt me for a username and password which it will on other computers if I haven't logged in.

Anybody had a similiar problem? I may be wrong but I dont think its the network card as its happening to a few of them, but then again I suppose they all could be faulty? Testing them is the last option to be honest....so any info guys would be really apreciated!

Thanks

Woz

Maybe I can help. Make sure client for microsoft network is installed on Win ME machine, it should be automatically. Make sure their is an account on the domain so that you can use that account to logon on the domain(once this is done a third row from the logon screen should show the computer name or domain name to logon). Also this might apply to win me, I know it applies to Win2000/WinXp, go to properties of the network card and click properties of tcp/ip-click advanced then click wins tab and try select enable netbios over tcp/ip.

not to sound mean or any thing but the biggest problem you have is windows me. Windows me is the worst software out there. thing of upgrading you systems to windows 2000 or windows xp. it would save on a lot of head ackes. all computers that i have worked on 90% of them had windows ME on it and i was told by the owners they had nothing but trouble with their computers and after i updated them with windows 2000 or windows xp(depending on what their computers can handle). it is worth the money and the time to upgade you OS.
