Well, what temps do you have when idling? I would say if your temps start to go beyond 60*C, it's time to stop. But that's just my opinion... :)

id prefer low temps(wouldnt we all) and im really not itching for performance so id say around 55 is my max

oh and my temps at idle are around 29-33c at 2.6 and 33-36c at 2.7

In that case, just keep pushing until your too hot (sound a bit rude lol...) or you're unstable ;)

It's wont damage it, but I can bet that a CPU which lives @ 30*C will have a longer life span that a CPU which lives @ 50*C ;)

However, @ 50*C, it'll live longer that 7 or 8 years (I think)...

Totally right. I'd say if you want to push it more, go and get an aftermarket cooler like the Zalman CNPS9500, otherwise, just keep it there. If you run Prime95 for a few months at the max overclock, you'll burn in you processor and you can overclock it a few more Mhz.

Afterall, it's only a sempron!
Lol, well, thats a bit harsh. It's still his computer and he does value it some.

As others have said i think you could safely push it up to around 2.8-2.9Ghz, with a pretty hefty aftermarket cooler such as the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 you may get it up to 3.0Ghz, but thats pushing it and you may need to up the vCore in the BIOS

My friend has the same processor and he can make it go up to 3.2 Ghz but his temps will go really high so he just leaves it at 1.8 Ghz.

Sorry, didn't mean to disrepect - semprons still are great for basic usage, but you can get them for pretty cheap so even if his CPU burns - he's ok ;)
