Well my Brother in Law asked me to build him a nice gaming machine. And this is the Mobo that he is looking atASUS
He is putting a e6600 Core2duo processor in it.

What do you guys think? Is this board vista ready?

He wants to run SLI, and liked the idea of the Wi-Fi.

Any suggestions? I would like to hear all the info and opinions you guys have.

Thanks.

Hi

This mobo is a reference, but there is the Asus P5B deluxe which is better.

In fact, SLI is useless, except if your brother wants to play with a 25", or a 30".
. Yo should buy graphic card more performant than 2 entry of range graphics card , it's more interessant.

What is your budget's brother ?

Dont really have a budget set. He wants to play on a 32" screen and have it look good and perform well.

Ku-sama - are you suggesting the same mobo that I am already lokking at? Do you know if Vista will work ok on this mobo?

What he is saying is that no one has a 42"+ monitor... so you don't NEED SLI

? I know all kinds of people that dont have a 42inch with SLI, I dont. I would really like to know what (need and useless) really mean!

I think the point would be; Using two high end GPUs in SLI on a 17" monitor is like cutting butter with a chain saw. It will work, but it is way more than you need.

the size of the screen has nothing to do with it whatsoever, the resolution you run the screena t is what governs performance and rendering times. Run a 42" plasma at 640x480 (as if thats even possible), then run a 17" TFT at 1600x1200, now which one is going to give out more FPS in the same game on the same system....?

i cut butter with a chainsaw all the time, and your right, it is overkill. i dont even get much butter at the end.
