Sound works great in Halo, but then it gets real choppy in winamp. I tried switiching CDs and players (iTunes, musicmatch, etc.) but that didn't work. Any advice? I'm using a mobo with onboard sound.

System was not specified in the original post. Some nVidia and Creative chipset combinations hogged the bandwidth on the PCI bus which caused crackling or choppy sound problems however, this was only noticeable on the older VIA chipsets.

You could try altering latency or buffer size in your mp3 player if this is supported and see if the choppiness of the sound is reduced.

I'm using an AGP ATI Radeon 9250 with Mach Speed matrix PM9MS mobo w/ via ID259 chipset. Also, what is latency and buffer size? Thanks!
