yeehah, i got my new heatsink and fan, and my new case the other day, i decided that im gonna push my cpu to the limits....

i have successfully overclocked my cpu from 2.4ghz (stock) to 3.7ghz :D:D.....
has anyone beat this before? (stable overclock).

the cpu is running at roughly 30*C. even cooler than my previous heatsink and fan.

cant wait to run 3d mark 06 again.

That's pretty cool.

Although I don't really understand the idea of overclocking, could someone explain the whole idea?

overclocking is just all about making your hardware run over is stock speed
for example

i have a intel celeron d 2.66z
but when i overclock it
i got a intel celeron d 3.00ghz
so mainly is about making your hardware run faster then before

in my case..... a lot faster lol, im gonna try 4ghz later tonight when my bro gets home, i had it at 3.9 but it wasnt as stable. its still running very cool so its mainly to do with the voltages....

The E6600 is one of the most overclockable CPU I have even seen, this doesn't surprise me at all. So to ALL E6600 owners out there, you are missing out on a lot if you don't overclock.

yer well they are fairly good at overclocking with the stock heatsink but if you do happen to change to a better heatsink then without doubt you will notice some differences.

im very happy with my new heatsink and fan combination. although i wouldnt recommend it for people that have a case less wide than the CM Stacker 830+.... so pretty much every case would struggle to fit one of these beats in.....

You didn't happen to write down the 5-letter/number stepping on the front of your CPU, did you? It could help out some people looking to get a CPU made in the same production week.. which generally yields the same overclocking capabilities.

can the e6700 overclock just as good as the e6600 and i know the price lowered but y was the e6700 so much more money when it was only a few speeds higher

yeah i had to change the voltages a fair bit, i think they are at 1.5v right now...
ive also overclocked my ram to 860mhz which adds to the speed.
