download speed??

ok im downloading a file, that my cousin in iraq sent me, as a bit of a gift. its huge though, and my download speeds are terrible due to an unknown problem. the average download speed im getting is about 6KB/s... how long will it take to download this four and a half gig movie? its hours and hours long, he says, and has some action that the news would never show, so please, anyone good at math, how long will this take?

I got about 9.1 days (9.10222...) for 4.5 GB presuming the speed remains constant at 6KB/s.

Approximately 200 hours

holy ****....... well, my speed is going up now, steadily rising, ill let you guys know when it peaks so i can maybe get an estimate that wont have me leaving my computer on for a third of a month

ok the speed has gone up significantly now, im up to about an average of 40KB/s from when i started

Are you talking about downloading via torrents?

Or if he actually is sending you those from Iraq, it's probably because they dont have that good of a connection over there.

he is sending via sattelite, so i should consider myself privelaged, the army rarely lets you connect to their satellites for more then a few minutes...theres something slowing it down, but its not me. and no lol im not using torrents, he's not that computer savvy, i just needed to know if there is any way to speed this along, and how long an average of 40kb/s would take to download the file

32.768 hours. The army most likely has strict connection restrictions on its satellite networks for things like that too.

yeah, as far as i can tell, the video is in normal format, he's not computer savvy, like i said... as for the article, it might shed light on the slow speeds, if i understand it correctly,
