I am designing my LAN gaming site, and want to ask, what would look nice on the pages. I have a roll over banner, that shows a different banner when the cursor is on it. I have a forum, it just needs to be worked on. I want the site to also look professional, I am going to use it for showing my skill.

I have Dreamweaver, Fireworks, InDesign, Photoshop, Flash, Illiustrator CS3 and that stuff.

You should use javascript ( i think) to have the banner change everytime the page loads. Looks better than a roll over imo.

Im stil a little confused on what your asking for.
For gaming sites, i like darker themes but not complete black

How does a dark gray with a white background where the text goes.

How hard is it to make an animated banner.

Is it possible to have the code for the banner on a timer? Or have something that has multiple banners and it changes every couple seconds? Or would that just be Flash.

is it on the web yet or are you doing it all local...
it would be cool to be able to see changes as you make them... it would give everyone a better idea of what you have/want

Basic style

I think you should use simple design resources to your website, you can make a good CSS structure (Fonts & Backgrounds) using Fireworks and Adobe in specific places of your web, try to focus in the organization and simplicity of the site(the structure), and avoid a very complex design. Using javascript is a good way to make your website easy to visit. You could check these websites out:

Also you can add static images (no necessarily flash images) using the http://www.corbis.com resources

I strongly agree with katulu50, the more flash you show the better site is, but not always. Too much Flash on the site, and too little content like text and static images isn't good. So katulu is right :)

As for your rollover banner, try to make it with Flash, make a good animation, it could be cool. If you need any help, please let me know :D

I am aware that it is giving that error, and I know why.
Since, I added a new Forum, it cleared my FTP information for my site. So, I am looking for tips and suggestions for when I update the site.
I got some sort of update going. The banner and buttons aren't being recognized, so I'll make them in Flash tomorrow.

Also, if I make a pop up window, in Flash, how would I make it pop up on my page at a certain time?

As for the banner, just make your own banner, name it the same as the SMF banner and switch out the files.

hehe, did yo usee i found your forum :p
