Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard that sales were not as good as anticipated (as was the case with a lot of hot games this season) and sales from the commercial availability of the CryENGINE weren't as great as they thought either.
Yeah I was reading that a while back.
I noticed a ton of people crying over the playing requirements the most which I myself laugh at.
After I made a back up iso of the game I gave my sister my copy of Crysis so she could play it too and she has a 2.4ghz AMD 4000+ cpu 4gb PC3200 ram and 7600GT 256mb g-card.
She was able to play it with medium settings and high on graphics on a 1024x768 resolution.
I think the game had the wrong kind of "hype" I know most of my friends always spoke of needing some outrageous system to run it etc etc which wasn't true but why spend 59.99 on a game that you can't run? I think that is one of the reasons the game did poorly on sales.
One of the reasons HL2 was so big was Valve does a monthly survey where it gets a idea of where most of its buyers rigs are at then makes games based off it. If more gaming companies did that they wouldn't see as poor of sales. Sadly not everyone can drop $800-1500 bucks on a gaming rig ever year.
I mean Far Cry didn't do all that great when it first came out and now its one of the best FPS games that come to mind. I still play it after all these years and can't wait for FC2 to come out finally.
