If its not in BIOS try to see if there is a jumper on the board to enable/dianble it. I doubt but its worth a shot. If there network chip has died I would be suspicious that the mobo may be dying.

If Apple would let you legally instsall OS X on your standard PC would you buy the OS, ~$130, install and use it? I'm talking about the OS not the hardware. You can use any normal hardware you want.
