    Which CPU?

It is different, but it works on the same socket, i.e. 775.

    Which CPU?

Be that as it may, the more expensive the C2D, the better. Core 2 Duo is the best processor you could get for that socket anyway, so you might as well go with the fastest one you can afford. Not just in GHz but also in L2 cache.

    I need recomendations...

Seems like an hp or Dell with a Core 2 Duo would be fine for you.

    Which CPU?

If you're using AutoCAD, then you'll want to go with something heavy duty. How about this: What's your budget? If it's, say, $300, then you should probably try to find a $300 processor... or a $260 processor with a $40 fan, seeing as you'll probably need it.

Possible ceiling on my AMD 64 CPU?

Wow. That was massive. I picked up a few things from there. Off I go to restart the computer and enter BIOS land. Thanks a bunch.

Possible ceiling on my AMD 64 CPU?

Well, it's dual channel 3200, and as for cooling, I'm not concerned with it yet only because I haven't reached temps to worry about. Once I see that I can reach a certain speed (and temperature along with it) I'll invest in it.

how the hell people overclock amd x2 6000+ to 3.8 GHZ?

Get yourself liquid cooling if you really want to take it that high. 3.2GHz isn't bad.

    Upgrading Need Help

What's your socket? I assume 939. If so, you could go up to X2 4800+. It's roughly $200, but BOY is it worth it. Also, since it has a pretty high enough multiplier (12 I believe) OCing shouldn't be too difficult, assuming the PC is cool and well-ventilated.

Possible ceiling on my AMD 64 CPU?

Another thing... I realize that it's impossible to know whether or not this is my ceiling, but I'm asking if there are things that I could do to see if it really is my ceiling. Perhaps be more advantageous with my voltages (RAM, CPU, and chipset), etc. etc. etc. etc.

Possible ceiling on my AMD 64 CPU?

I've been trying to overclock my AMD 64 3000+ ever since I got it about 4 or 5 months ago. Seeing that it's stock at 1.8GHz, and my previous CPU, an AMD Athlon XP at 2.3GHz, I just feel the itch to get it as high as possible. The multiplier is locked, but everything else is up for grabs. I have...
