    Upgrade PC, what's worth keeping?

^ What he said. The only things I'd necessarily keep would be the Drive (upgrade to an SSD and use your current one for storage), and if it's a good one, your monitor. Actually, even if it's a low-quality one, still nice to have as a spare.

help windows 7 wont boot ?

You need to do a clean install of Win7 while the SSD is installed in the 'Alt PC'. Burn the iso to a DVD and install from there. By installing Win7 on the SSD while it's hooked up to the 'Main PC', the boot files are being installed to the Win10 Drive. Hence, there is no MBR on the Win7 SSD so...

The Return of Voyagerfan99's Minecraft Server

Thanks! Good idea, I was not aware this was an issue since I generally just do a controlled test-run in each direction. When you bounced off the minecart at the destination, I'm guessing it ricocheted you back onto the powered rails for a return trip? I'll remove some powered rails at the...

"Turn off hard disk" Power Setting for SSD

Miniscule at best. If it's going to be off for a length of time that it would be an issue, you'll probably be shutting it down anyway.

The Return of Voyagerfan99's Minecraft Server

There is a new MTS line from the Beach/Ocean Terminal to a biome across the ocean. I haven't done much exploring outside of the immediate area, but it looks to be Hills/Grassland. As always, the line terminus is safe, but once you leave the station, you're on your own! There is a bed, chest...

    buying a new desktop pc

And do you want to buy a pre-built ready-to-go system, or build your own. Pre-built is cheaper, but gaming may be an issue due to the lower quality parts. Building your own from the ground up may be a bit more in the long run, but you have the benefit of using better components and have future...

The Return of Voyagerfan99's Minecraft Server

I just finished an MTS line heading from a newly-built station to a, wait for it...Mesa biome. I found it while scouting and it's several thousand blocks from Spawn. The line is not 100% complete (still need finishing touches on lighting and decor), but it's safe and fully-functional. For those...

Can I block or do something about messages from carrier?

I kept getting promotional messages from certain Carrier-sponsored pre-loaded Apps (VZ-whatever). Froze the Apps and bingo, no more messages/notifications. Your Carrier mileage may vary.

Can I block or do something about messages from carrier?

Long-press the SMS message and select View Contact. On the Contact screen, select Settings, then simply add them to your reject list.

Can I block or do something about messages from carrier?

The best way is to Root the device and use an App like Titanium Backup to freeze what you don't want. Note that this will most likely void any warranty you have, and your Carrier probably won't even want to touch the phone afterwards. The other option is to go to the App Manager and selectively...

Am I just being old fashioned?

It depends on the model. My personal laptop (circa 2012) has no latch, nor does the one (circa 2014) my SO uses. However, my work one (2013) does.

could a SSD laptop last MUCH longer

Standing up with, sitting down with, or carrying an open laptop won't harm anything.

could a SSD laptop last MUCH longer

Yes, traditional HDDs contain platters that spin on the inside. SSDs are flash-based memory, no moving parts. Vibrations in this case don't refer to the platters spinning. Instead, physical vibration to the laptop itself (bump, drop, etc.) that could cause something to skip on the platter.

The Return of Voyagerfan99's Minecraft Server

There is an active MTS line (though currently a non-functional terminus) to monicapaige's house. Awaiting her feedback and/or basement requirements to finish the station. I'm also going to work on a map file I can upload and link to here showing the lines/stations - apparently this system is...

Possible to repair a bad SATA port?

You realize that's a data/software issue correct? Over time files get fragmented, causing longer seek times, causing slower performance. Nothing 2-3 Defrag cycles using <insert favorite program here> can't cure. Moving hardware (literally, parts that move - platter HDDs, fans, cooling pumps)...
