New Build - Looking for advice/comments

Corsair gets my vote but if you get the chance, I just built a computer with the same motherboard that you have listed, maybe try looking into this right here. Might save you some money unless you are doing some overclocking with your RAM...

New Build - Looking for advice/comments

I would say get an 80 GB SSD for your operating system and programs you need. Then get a TB Hd (since they are on sale) for everything else like music, school work. That way you arent paying too much for SSD but you would see some significant signs of improvement. Hell, maybe get an SSD for...

    Frustration. Please help!

I would also look at RAM compatibility too for your motherboard. That plays a big factor on your mobo.

Building a MW2 PC for dad.

Hopefully your dad has SATA compatible HDs. Assuming that he's got an 8 year old AGP video card would led me to believe that he also has IDE hard drives(older computer). Then again, some new mobos can run IDE hardware... The 9800 will be fine for MW2.

    Frustration. Please help!

Why would you buy dual channel ram when the motherboard ram is triple channel? It may or may not be the case but I think you might have a bad PSU. Also what PSU was your dad's friend using out of curiousity? Im also thinking the RAM may have something to do with it... Dual channel RAM on a...

Pics and Screenshots of the 1st computer built

As promised, here's the successful build and screen shots of the computer. Cable management is not that good but oh well. I bought a game to test the computer out as well as you will see. Review of the computer - ASUS P6T SE motherboard - Intel i7 920 currently not overclocked - 6...

About to buy components from NewEgg! Last minute advice!

Looks good. I would say if you plan on overclocking, get an aftermarket heatsink and some arctic silver compound to cool your CPU chip.

    Very Frustrated

I have the same laptop as you and that 2 MB RAM should say 2 GB RAM. I run windows 7 64 bit ultimate with no problems. Granted I should get 4 gigs of ram but Ill end up doing that eventually. As far your laptop freezing, you really need to make sure you dont have any extra applications...

    Get More Harddrive space....

That pretty much nails it. Also make sure you arent running all those applications at the same time because they contribute to slowing down your computer as well. Also, just wondering, what are the current specs on your computer.
  13. BuddyLee81

    Few questions.

With your current computer you wont need it because you can overclock your processor. Not sure how good your cooling is but with your i7 960 you could get pretty high in ghz but the higher you go, the more your computer heats up. Thats why I say you dont need any boosters if you can overclock...

does this system seem reasonable ,too dated or too much $$$

Here's my honest opinion and please do not take this the wrong way. If you pay 1695 for those items listed in caps, i will assassinate you. For 1695, you can build a very dominating computer vs that old crap listed. Now that I got that out my system, if you plan on buying a computer, what is...

    Few questions.

That is a very nice build. I wouldnt worry about the HD speed because it only affects load times and if you are that concerned with load times, i would get an SSD but that costs more and I dont want you to be thinking about your HD when you need to be concerned with your overall computer...

    Do I need a professional?

Do people still use AOL these days??? I was on it nonstop 14 years ago (mainly punting and freezing other people's computers). Im very surprised people still use AOL... Would be funny if some people on here still use IRC. Man i've gotten old fast ;)

    Ready to build

I took the other standoffs and put them in. Reinstalled everything into the case, got power finally but I already shorted the mobo. So what I did and to make sure it never happens again, I went ahead and put the standoffs in my other antec case so I will never short out another mobo again. I...

    Ready to build

Unfortunately, I bought the motherboard more than 14 days ago off ebay. Since the product is not under warranty through the company i bought, im stuck with the mobo. Here's the company's (not ASUS) return policy... Return policy Item must be returned within Refund will be given as Return...
