Newbie - Gaming PC..which one is better of these two??

The laptop isn't really comparable, no. The desktop's processor is more than twice as powerful, and its graphics card is roughly 20% faster than the laptop's. The GPU is the bottleneck in both cases, so the desktop won't game too much better than the laptop, but you can always upgrade the...

Ok very confusing qusetion about size of this GPU!, Physical Characteristics of a GPU

Look at the card and compare the dimensions. The thinnest part of the card is obviously from the back of the PCB to the top of the cooler, so that's "thickness". The next smallest is going to be from the slot side of the PCB to the outside edge that faces the side of the case...so that's...

When is LGA 1155 coming back?

^ Ask him if it's the new version, or the old version with the bug in the SATA ports. Or, just ask him when he got it in stock...the fixed versions have only just started shipping, so if it's more than a few weeks it's the old one. If it is the old one, the only problem s that the SATA II ports...

True...that's a better machine than most everything else at Wal Mart, so I suppose it can't be complained about too much.

    Extreme gaming pc? Or junk?

Actually, on current AMD and Intel setups, there's an integrated memory controller on the CPU with its own multiplier, while the base clock is the same as the CPU's. You can run nearly any RAM at its rated speed without overclocking the CPU.

Cooler Master V10 OR corsair H70?

FWIW, here's frosttech's 10 best. They've reviewed most of the good ones: http://www.frostytech.com/top5heatsinks.cfm I have no idea why they say "top 5"...all of those lists have 10 coolers.

    Extreme gaming pc? Or junk?

Vista has DirectX 11 as well. Yep, but it's a little more than that. Tessellation, in this case, is a technology that can take an existing wireframe model and add detail to it (more triangles) without the artist doing anything. The artist doesn't actually draw all of those triangles.

    CPU speed? Confused :S

You can copy a space, so "CTRL + V" can become your space bar. :good: I didn't use the space bar for this whole sentence! edit: Alt+0160 apparently makes stars here instead of spaces...instructions fixed.

    Extreme gaming pc? Or junk?

Most anything that run DirectX 11 and can use Tessellation will look amazing with it enabled. Be warned, though; some of them can bring even the mightiest system to its knees. Go look up some videos of Metro 2033 to see what I mean.

    Extreme gaming pc? Or junk?

Welcome to PC gaming. :) I dunno about "photorealistic", but a lot of games get pretty darned close. Check the previews for "Batman: Arkham City". Only if you find a game that you can't run as fast as you'd like, which I doubt. Although, if you just want bragging rights, that's ok too.

    CPU speed? Confused :S

Usually, older games listed like that would refer to pentium 4 chips, since they were the most popular. They were single core, and not very efficient. A 2GHz single core modern processor is usually equal to or better than a 3GHz Pentium 4, so a 2.3GHz CPU of just about any type would have no...

^ True dat. The real allure of the SB chips is their overclocking though...they'll typically hit ~4.8GHz on air, stable.

    i5-661

If you're referring to Intel's hyperthreading, then the extra "cores" only add about 25% of what a real core would, and that's under ideal circumstances. Sometimes it's much lower, and sometimes HT actually hurts performance. Given the same architecture, 6/6 would trump 4/8, but in reference to...
