What do you mean? Wouldn't having one stick of 2GB and one stick of 1GB RAM make it so it wouldn't run dual-channel therefore I wouldn't notice a difference? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that how it works?

It's running XP Home at the moment, would it be beneficial to upgrade it to 1GB then? It's for iTunes, Windows Media Player, and other things like that so I don't think Linux would be an option.
