(RETIRED) Sticky: Official CPU-Z Benchmark Thread

Here's my 8320 for comparison. Man I can't wait for my cooler to get here Tuesday so I can complete my Ryzen build.

    AMD CPU/Socket Discussion Thread

I haven't reinstalled Windows since 2010, not looking forward to ending my streak :( This installation has been through 3 hard drives and an SSD, 3 versions of Windows, and 4 different computers. I haven't had any issues with my setups so I never reinstalled. The cooler I ordered on Amazon that...

Got screwed with Corsair running out of stock with their AM4 brackets. Returning my H110 and ordered the H110i from Amazing that supposedly has the bracket. Will get it on Saturday.

All my Ryzen parts will be here by Friday! Whoop whoop :D

    AMD CPU/Socket Discussion Thread

If RAM speed really does affect Ryzen's speed, I think I'm gonna pull out ahead :P but your board is 12 phase vs my 10 phase, not sure what extent that will affect things for overclocking. At least your power bill will potentially be lower, or maybe worse actually with that 390 vs my 480 :P

Just bought the 1700X and the Asus Prime X370 Pro, along with some 2666MHz single-rank RAM and a H110 cooler. Also ordered the free bracket for the H110 from Corsair :D Super excited.

Where did you find an X370 mobo in stock? I can't find them on Newegg and Amazon.

Thinking about an AMD Ryzen build

I'd still get the RX 480 8GB despite that monitor. It's only $20-30 more and it's 5% faster, not to mention the RAM does come in handy with some of the newer games. GTA V comes to mind. The 8GB RX 480 is what I'm currently running, I had a 4GB for a week and swapped it for the 8GB.

    Which laptop is better?

If you're really looking for portability and battery life, I'd go with the Acer. I bought an E5-575-33BM and was surprised at how good the build quality was for an Acer, they've really stepped up their game in the last few years. Mine has an i3 with 2 cores / 4 threads and it is fast enough for...

    AMD CPU/Socket Discussion Thread

While the recent reviews have shown Ryzen to be lacking in gaming compared to the i7 7700k, it's really not that far behind, and absolutely destroys it in multithreading. I believe the SMT problems will be fixed in a Windows update, just like with the FX 8xxx series came out. It's also a huge...

TOP Best games that you've played in your life.

Aw yeah, AOE II and Elite Dangerous. Forgot to add those to my list.

I think the 1700 is for OEMs honestly. It makes no sense as an enthusiast chip.

Looks like aftermarket VRM heatsinks are gonna be popular.

Apparently the non-X 1700 is a good overclocker: http://wccftech.com/amd-ryzen-7-1700-overclocked-4ghz/ They hit 4.05GHz and outperformed the stock 1800X.

I'm more curious if the 1700X has identical performance, its TDP is 95w. That's the one I'm currently eyeing, idk if I want to go all out on the 1800X.

Now we just need 14 more threads to stay competitive.

    Jesters Linux Adventures

Is that the NT clone? How's it doing these days on development? Last time I checked it out was 4 years ago and while it was a cool project, it really wasn't anywhere near usable.

Nvidia vs AMD what do prefer ?

Currently AyyMD. Really not a fan of Novideo lately, image quality was worse (some really bad gradient banding) and being forced to log in to download drivers really sucks. I had the GTX 970 so I'm still a little sore about the 3.5 thing. Also FreeSync > GSync.

    What are you currently playing?

Loads of Battlefield 1. It's consuming all my spare time, and the best part is that you can't mute people in voice comms so I've been boosting team morale quite a lot.
