It needs to be formatted and assigned a drive letter before your computer will see it and use it. Click the Start Menu, Right Click on My Computer, Manage. Click on Disk Management, locate the drive, Right Click and Format. No other downloads or software is required to format a hard drive.

Do you have "Vitrualization" enabled in your BIOS? Check that first. Are you still able to boot into Windows 7? Installing XP after a newer version of Windows is not that simple. Windows XP uses a different type of boot loader, and will corrupt the later version when installed.

Your system looks killer, aside from you not listing a hard drive... Gaming cards aren't going to help your CAD. The 9800GT is still a decent card, running most games at mid to high settings, depending on the game. You need a Quadro or equivalent for CAD.
