I just received my gainward GTX 480, was the high temps a lie?

Overclocked from stock 700 core, 1401 Shader, 1848 (2896) Memory. To a huge Core 810MHz, Shader 1621MHz, Memory 2000 (4000)MHz. 33c idle. 72c after 8 hours of metro 2033 gameplay. 80c with 100% stress test on 15-17 hours. (over night) I'll sli it later, and i don't see any reason why i would...

[Expreview] GeForce GTX460 Gets Spec’ed, Due on June 1st

Yea, i was thinking about that :) .. Well, i have a H50 cooler and it gives me a huge overclock on low temps. Didn't cost much either and i can use it on dual-quad-i3-i5 and i7 cpu's :D Is there really any FPS benefits in gaming by going from an Q9650 to i7-920?

XFX HD 5970 Black Edition LIMITED $15,099.99

Some people love to "show-off" their cards to other people irl, maybe that's the reason? i have no clue.

[Expreview] GeForce GTX460 Gets Spec’ed, Due on June 1st

yea.. Well, this is 2010 maybe air is getting old xD. If there was a card with intergrated water-cooling that didn't cost much more and kept, whether it was 480 or 5970 so cool that it is the card itself that limits the oc'ing i wouldn't say no xD.

[Expreview] GeForce GTX460 Gets Spec’ed, Due on June 1st

Nah. You do know that a water-cooler is all you need for a max overclock right? Shouldn't it be possible to install a water cooler within the GTX 495 on the stock card? or something... Something new and really nice. Just imagine how cool that would be, to have a stock-card with a stock-water...

[Expreview] GeForce GTX460 Gets Spec’ed, Due on June 1st

I will honestly agree on that. One gtx 480 is acceptable in terms of heat (with my testing 72c after 8 hours of hardcore gaming, and 80-85c max after a whole night 15 hours+ with 100% stress overclocked with the specs in my sign) two on one card will be too way too hot. I think a total refresh...

480 was not a failure. Period. Just ask someone who has the card, such as myself.

    Nvidia GTX 4xx fermi cards

Well, that's why i didn't buy 470.. 480 has nice overclocking-potential and i was able to oc A LOT. I still need some new drivers.

Sounds good if the price stays at 250-300. I just wonder whether there will be a GTX 495 or a new refresh with the whole card later, like they did with GTX 275 after gtx 260.

Yes i did say that my family gave me money, but i had to pay it back. I just don't like to talk about how i borrow money from people in general. I always pay it back, and i have done so. I've not got the impression of you being older than 18.

    Nvidia GTX 4xx fermi cards

Yes. I took part-time jobs after school for months and i worked HARD in the previous summer-vecation. If i want to i can ask for money from my family, but i need to pay back.

[1] That respond is something you might expect from most children. "I know everything", "I've done everything in my life". No, you have not bought all expensive things in your life. If you just want something then there is no price : performance ratio but rather an Performance : interest ratio...

It is up to each individual.. The standard in your country is different than mine. What you may look upon as someting "expensive" might not be so "expensive" in other countries. Just keep that in mind.

    Nvidia GTX 4xx fermi cards

This is the most patetic thing i've ever heard. IF a person wants Physx should he buy ATi? no.. If a person want 3D should he buy ATi?`no.. If a person want Cuda, Physx, 3D, DX11 and great tesselation then 480 will be the real bang for the buck. Otherwhise he would need to buy 5870 and a GTX...

I just received my gainward GTX 480, was the high temps a lie?

True, but i was thinking about in-game loading when you enter a new zone without any loading screen.

480 beats 5970 Under extreme tesselation. Yes, this is just a single benchmark. But i've got to comment on this one.. On extreme tesselation i got 40fps average and not 36. I know this is just a bech, but it do show potential.

I just received my gainward GTX 480, was the high temps a lie?

Not really. 5970 is a Dual gpu and reviews states that the card has micro-stuttering etc whilst i've not seen a single stuttering on my GTX 480 now. GTX 480 is a single GPU and is so close, and even better than 5970 in some tesselation-instances. I for instance could run Metro 2033 very high...
