Is 2.16 GhZ slow these days?

Definitely. But remember that TDP is based on the lowest clock, which is 1.5GHz. The M3-8100Y has a 5W TDP as well, but it's running 1.1GHz. Intels TDPs are basically worthless (to me at least): i7-7800X, 6C 12T - 140W TDP i9-7920X, 12C 24T - 140W TDP It's based on specific workloads only at...

Is 2.16 GhZ slow these days?

It's definitely designed for mobile (including laptops, it's full x86) devices, but maybe this wasn't put across, I've exclusively talked about mobile processor so far. It will be the high end processor for the new Macbook, for example, with lower clocked i5/m3 options.

Is 2.16 GhZ slow these days?

i7-8500Y, 2 cores, 4 threads, 1.5GHz-4.2GHz boost begs to differ

Is 2.16 GhZ slow these days?

I went and checked the 8th gen, and yeah, the vast majority is 4c/8t now, with a few 2c/4t and 6c/12t models in the mix. By far, by miles, the most popular i7 of the 7th gen was the i7-7500U, which was used in just about every sub-$1000 laptop, and it's a dual core. Sure they had higher end...

Is 2.16 GhZ slow these days?

Remember that most laptop i7's are dual cores :)

Can I still buy a desktop with XP or Windows 7?

If it runs in a virtual machine, any modern machine with Windows 10 and current hardware can run it. VMWare or VirtualBox both support XP and are free for home use. Windows 7 had an option for native XP virtual machines, but the third party ones are great.

Is there anything I can do to speed up my computer?

If you're only using it for office applications, the Q6600 is more than enough for most people. My friend went to global elite in CS:GO on that CPU, and that's a very CPU intensive game. DDR2 RAM can be hard to come by, but upgrading it to 8GB would be good. Definitely the major upgrade for...

    Remove fan starter

This only makes sense to me if you have another faulty fan, but with the casing intact(?) But yeah, as Darren said, it's not like fans are the most expensive computer part. You can get some good cheap ones, or some great pricey ones. Most likely a newer fan will be quiter as well.

    RYZEN 5 2400G PROBLEMS

Could it be a RAM issue? Haven't kept much up with the new Ryzen APUs, but it could look like OP has single channel RAM. I don't think it should be 4FPS low.

    Desktop advice

Be very vary of the 1030. NVIDIA has silently introduced an SDDR4 version, as opposed to the standard GDDR5, which is effectively only half the performance.

    "System Reserved" drive appeared suddenly?

It's not that something with your partitions changed, or data was deleted/moved (except Windows files, not your documents etc. for example). It's a bug in the newest version of Windows that shows all partitions, even the ones hidden by default. Windows is usually 2-4 partitions on one disk...

    "System Reserved" drive appeared suddenly?

It's great beta testing for Microsoft, who wouldn't pay for an OS to do that?!

    1700 VS 2700X?

That was the original issue with QuickSync, that the quality was horrible. But that's like 5 years ago for me, and haven't kept up with it. If I recall correctly the bad quality in QS was more for live video (or something), where I imagine it's not going to be a drop in quality for solid...

    1700 VS 2700X?

Absolutely wasn't worth it yeah. Maybe I'm out of touch and was missing a setting, but I looked at many Ryzen specific guides and god damn tried everything. I have actually seen Dmitrys video, and right now he's happily proclaiming on Twitter that QuickSync (Intel) works wonders with Adobe...

    1700 VS 2700X?

I would highly recommend watching this video. I doubt you can find a more unbiased and deep-dived review. A fresh breath of information compared to just slides of gaming/synthetic benchmarks. It says "not for normies, lol", but that portion is really only a few minutes and the gist of it is very...

    1700 VS 2700X?

Are you looking to play games? If so, the 2700X is much stronger. AMD made changes to the internal memory on Zen+, and even at the same GHz as Zen, it's much faster for gaming. My general advice for Ryzen is not to overclock. XFR is actually doing a really good job, at least on my 1800X, where I...

The computer does not start. If I press Start button - nothing happens

I'm seeing massive layers of dust, like on half the RAM stick in picture #4. Something could easily have, or is actively, shorted.

Is my CPU holding me back?

You shouldn't expect anything from the newest AC game. Even with overclocked i7-5820K and GTX 1080 it struggles to get 60 minimum FPS on 1080p@medium settings. You should be able to tweak WoW to run better than that though, even in heavy raids. Are you using any anti-aliasing or sun glare...

E8500 overclock problem on gigabyte 945gcm-s2l

Honestly they do not go hand in hand, that's Microsoft propaganda. Nevertheless, we won't really help with pirated software. Against forum rules. Glad you found out tho.
